As early as the fall of 1990, a small group gathered to start the Golden Hospice Society.  This group continued to operate for the next couple of years but was disbanded until it was resurrected in the year 2000.  For the past twenty years the group has grown to a dozen volunteers which have been trained in various disciplines to offer support to families in need throughout the community

The group held their initial meetings in various locations including the Golden Hospital Board room until a permanent office was set up in downtown Golden and was open 3 afternoons each week.

The Society was registered in January 2000 as a non-profit organization.

The group has participated in various activities and projects.  One which was much needed was the refurbishing of a lounge area in the Golden hospital, space for family and visitors to relax when they have a hospice family member in the hospital.

The new office for the Society is now located in the Golden Senior’s Community Centre in Golden
